My 1969 Dodge Coronet 440
This section is about my 1969 Dodge Coronet 440 4-door, I bought the car in the fall of 1999, at the time I also had another '69 Coronet 440 2-door that was my first car and daily driver. It was a decent car but needed a good resto. When I got my first Coronet on the raod I became a member of the local Mopr club. well, in one of out newsletters I saw an ad in the classifieds section "1969 Dodge Coronet 4-door, best offer" i really hadn't been looking for another car but I figured it was worth a look, so the next day I called about it and went to see it. I met the owner at his house, we alked back behind his house out into the middle of a cowfeild to a little barn/building, he opned the doors and there it was, covered in what must have been a half inch of dust was a almost perfect unrestored car. The car as it sat hadn't run or been moved since 1985. The car came from South Carolinia, the guy I bought the car from, his sister got the car there off a used car lot, I assume she was the second owner. Anyways the car was used as their driver for a few years, then it was sent north with her son as he worked as a page at the whitehouse! I after he drove it for a few years,in 1976 the car wound up being given to her father who lived here in Va, he drove the car for quite a few years. In 1985 he wound up having a stroke and was ordered by his doctors not to drive, so the car was parked. After a few months the car wound up in the barn where it sat until i bought it. The car had been very well maintained and it showed. I got the car home, it wouldn't run, I put on a starter and used a motor cycle gas tank temporarily to run it. It fired right up! I then went ahead ad did a tune up on it, plugs, wires, points, ect. I of course had to add Cragars and air shock. It looked awsome. The car soon found its way into daily driver duty, I continued to be driven and shown until the end of 2001 when I found a charger I really wanted and sold both my Coronets. Flash foward to August 2002, I had 2 Charger projects and a 1963 Dodge Dart GT Convertible. I decided I'd made a mistake in selling my Coronets, I wanted them back! The guy who I sold the 4 door to was not taking car of it, he had done some mechanicals stuff but, he also dissasembled stuff and lost parts, he also never washed or waxed the car once even thought it sat outside under a tree. I had to get it back, and then opertuinty came, the guy ran out of money and wanted to sell, he also liked my convertible, so a trade was quickly arranged. I got the coronet back and I have slowly been fixing what he screwed up. It needs paint now, but it still looks pretty good for an unrestored 4-door!
